It is the biggest 'big brother' step that has been taken in my lifetime by those who some call 'the Government'. Like fox hunting, it is an issue that never was: If you don't like fox hunting, don't do it and if you don't like breathing in smoke, don't go to a smoky place - simple! Just don't try to make others do what your brain is telling you. This article is excellent as it reveals what is REALLY behind this pernicious piece of legislation that has been enacted on an almost worldwide basis, without so much as a murmer of protest from anyone. The landlord of a local pub (The Dog in Ewyas Harold, Hereford) stood up to the law by arguing that his pub was his home, so he and anyone else he nominated could smoke there whenever they wanted. He was vilified in the press, fined thousands of pounds by the local authorities and threatened with closure and a possible prison sentence. He relented. Big brother is alive and living in Hereford!
